Technical Architect

Currently we are looking for a Technical Architect for our UK operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Architect within the team, you will be given an understanding of the company’s IT products and services. You will be part of an energetic team continuously engaged in improving the stack of offerings with focus on maintaining and enhancing our suite of Business Intelligence (BI) products and programming.

You will be responsible for the following:

• Database Designing, modelling and reporting applications
• Providing scalable, reliable and durable solutions
• Develop functional components within end to end database projects
• Translating requirements into build activities
• Shape solutions with key stakeholders and colleagues.
• Collaborate with other tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design
• Define and document technical approach and design.
• Provide technical expertise
• Control quality throughout the project life cycle
• Ensure best practice leading by example
• Support system and UAT testing.
• Control production implementations.
• Document solutions fully to support on-going development and service.
• Learn new technologies to support systems delivery

Skill Set Required

• Programming environments – You will have worked to engineer data centric products in multiple paradigms and have demonstrable experience of complex programming. You will have demonstrable experience of using SQL and working knowledge of C#.
• Appreciation of data – You will have worked with meaningful data previously in a mission critical environment and be familiar with the techniques employed to ensure that this content is always of high quality.
• Working environment – You will be comfortable attacking complex challenges in many ways, as a team member.
• Quality and security – You will understand, respect and reinforce the importance of quality in the product development process. You will have demonstrable experience of using your initiative to improve the quality, robustness and accuracy of deliverables.
• Inter-Personal Skills – You should have demonstrable communication skills, problem - solving and “can-do” attitude.

Essential Experience

• Hands-on knowledge of Kimball Methodology
• Demonstrable experience with Data-warehousing Concepts
• Proven experience in SQL Server 2008/2008R2/2012/2014 and other databases like Oracle
• T-SQL or PL/SQL programming skills and best practices
• Microsoft SharePoint
• SSIS or Other ETL Tools (Informatica/ODI)
• Data Quality Tools like IDQ, DQS
• SQL database ownership and management
• Data-Visualization tools SSRS/Spotfire/OBIEE/Qlikview/PowerBI
• SSAS/OLAP, MDX, DMX, XMLA
• Versioning Control tools – Microsoft Visual Source Safe, WinCVS, TFS etc
• Scheduling Tools – SQL Server Agent, Control-M, Autosys etc
• MS Excel, Power Pivot, C# programming, Scripting Languages (Python/Perl/Shell)
• Content management of large datasets and build macros
• Awareness of variety of data storage technologies/platforms.
• A strong understanding of development lifecycles
• An analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A solid development background within data delivery

Desired Experience

• SQL database administration
• XML/XQuery
• Big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie
• Low level programming languages
• Training Skills
• Cloud Service
• Team Foundation Server (TFS)
• Programming performance optimization – data queries and/or software functions
• Certifications in any Database and Reporting applications

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Master’s Degree – Preferred

Travel - Occasionally within UK and abroad
