Commercial Vehicle Test Centre & Tachograph Operative

The Company is a successful and well respected family owned Transport Company in Halifax. The Company owns a modern fleet of over 60 vehicles and 120 Trailers and carries out the service and maintenance of the fleet in-house. In addition the Company operates an ATF (Approved Test Facility) for MOT testing and Tachograph fitting and calibration, which is also open to third party business.

The Role:
- Under the supervision of the ATF Manager you are to ensure the smooth operation of the ATF MOT Test Centre and Tachograph calibration bay.
- This position will be both varied and busy as you will be involved in managing the reception area together with completing customer service administration and fitting of Tachographs.
- Undertake the installation / calibration of Tachograph units (Training and certification will be supplied if this is required)
- Responsible for providing general administration for the workshop.
- Dealing directly with Customers by phone, email and face to face.
- Assisting with planning and managing the work load via the workshop booking system & Issuing of work to ATF Inspectors, updating and closing of job cards.
- FLT license is required to assist with the loading / unloading of test weights onto vehicles (Training and certification will be supplied if this is required)
- Assistance with other workshop activities such as minor adjustments to lights and any other minor items as and when required.
- Assist raising and issuing of sales invoices and working with Accounts department to ensure payments are received from customers.

Essential skills:
- Good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills in excel, word and database systems
- Excellent Customer service and administration skills.
- Good communication skills and a Team Player
- Holder of class B driving licence essential, class C+E would be desirable.

Desirable skills:
- Experience within the Automotive or Automotive electrics industry
- Mechanical knowledge or experience of a workshop environment.
- Knowledge of MOT Preparation, servicing and repair of Tachograph equipment.

Location
The role is based at their Halifax depot
