JOB TITLE: Early Years Practitioner / Nursery Nurse

THE COMPANY: Our client is a Girls boarding school located in Edinburgh, which was established in 1888 by the pioneers of women's education in Scotland. The school is now Scotland's largest all girls' school and the only all-through girls' school. The school also offers full time and part time places for children between 2 to 5 years at it's OFSTED rated excellent nursery. The nursery is located over six dedicated classrooms, with safe playing areas and a wild garden giving children and safe and stable environment to grow and develop within.
There are now fantastic opportunities arising for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals with proven working experience to join our clients Nursery team as a Early Years Practitioner / Nursery Nurse.
For the right candidate our client has the following Part Time positions both permanent or temporary -
Permanent post in term time - 8.00-4.00pm 2 days per week (16 hours)
Temporary in term time for the session 2017/18, for one year in the first instance:
9.00-1.00pm Mondays and Fridays (8 hours)
9.00-4.00pm Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays (21 hours)
THE ROLE: As a Early Years Practitioner / Nursery Nurse you will report to the Head of Junior School and the Head of Nursery and will be responsible in contributing to the delivery of the designated curriculum and to provide a service compatible with good practice in the education and care of children by following the policies and systems laid down by the school. This is a fun hands on role where your duties will vastly range and will require you to engage, interact and play with children as well as being responsible for their well being and safety.
You will provide a safe and stimulating environment for children to play, learn and develop skills through a range of ways but also through personally interacting with children. You will communicate and work effectively with colleagues, parents and students to support the individual development for each child and to assist in the delivery of the curriculum whilst following the school's policies and procedures.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Early Years Practitioner / Nursery Nurse's role must have previous experience working with young children in a Nursery setting and will hold a HNC or SVQ3 in childcare. You should naturally be an enthusiastic, positive and caring person who has the ability to build effective and trusting relationships. You will be highly organised, someone who is able to remain calm in a reactive environment and someone who enjoys working as part of a team towards a common goal.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Early Years Practitioner / Nursery Nurse's role in Edinburgh include :-
- Must have HNC or SVQ3 in childcare
- Previous experience working with children (early years) is essential
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Ability to build effective, caring and trusting relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Must be a positive and fun person who enjoys working with others
