Team Leader (Rail Vehicle Maintenance) x 2

Do you have excellent people management skills and supervisory experience gained within rail vehicle engineering or aircraft maintenance? If so, this is a superb opportunity for two experienced Team Leaders to join the quality focused Heavy Maintenance team at Arriva TrainCare, at the Eastleigh (near Southampton) depot, working on a major new Class 180 Project.

Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from its five strategically located maintenance depots. What will the role of Team Leader entail?

As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the management team to successfully deliver the Class 180 Project on time and in budget, by leading a team of highly skilled Fitters, Electricians and Vehicle Builders. Duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Implementing and maintaining safety systems, production efficiency and quality output
  • Liaising with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to ensure work programmes are implemented and technical problems are resolved
  • Implementing customer requirements and assisting with continuous improvement innovations
  • Ensuring the safe movement of vehicles
  • Assisting in developing competence assessments for team members
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to ensure job requirements are fulfilled
  • Ensuring work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with standards

What will I need to be considered for this Team Leader role?

  • Experience of leading a team working within rail vehicle engineering or aircraft maintenance
  • Time served mechanical and/or electrical engineer with a solid understanding of rail or aircraft heavy maintenance activities
  • Qualified to a minimum of a City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in Engineering
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Formal training in people management would be advantageous
  • Understanding of production efficiency techniques
  • Superb organisational and problem solving skills

What will I receive in return?

Salary:                          £34,375 per annum

Working Hours:             40 hours per week, 4 x 10.5 hr shifts, working 4 days on, 4 days off

Contract Type:              14 month fixed term contract
