We have a fantastic opening for a Technical Sales Manager whose role would include visiting customers as well as Architects to discuss the best solution to proposed glazing projects with the aim of securing new work.
The company carry out high-end retail and commercial work and this comes in through architect enquiries and via carefully vetted leads so this is a consultative, solutions based sale where the person's technical understanding and appreciation of their product range will come to the fore.
The job will rely on self-motivation, good personal management and communication skills, whilst working as a team member based out of our Exeter offices and covering the South West area.
Your role will be to advise and recommend the best solution to meet the brief and specification, taking into account current Building Regulation and Health & Safety legislation Regulations as well as commercial and installation considerations. It may also involve producing quotations and following these up with customers to gain feedback and close new orders.
The successful applicant will need to have a thorough understanding of aluminium windows and doors including bi-folds although the company also design, fabricate and install a full range of UPVC items as well. They will need to be able to read and interpret architect's drawings and offer first class communication and presentation skills. Previous experience of surveying similar products would also be advantageous. We would also welcome applications from graduates with relevant knowledge. The successful applicant can be given specific product training as required.

This role has come about through an internal move but is seen as a key role in the continued and planned expansion of the business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy and expanding sales team. Salary is dependent on experience with monthly bonuses available.
The main functions of the job role are:
- Point of sales contact to a prospective customer via in the field, telephone, email and internet.
- Product demonstrations in the field
- Liaising with architects, contractors and private clients.
- Manage and co-ordinate sales leads.
- Register leads on in house systems and keep updated on a daily/weekly basis including the generation of reports.
- Preparation of customers quotations.
- Customer care contact - lead management and feedback reports.
- Initial administration of sales orders to allow the job file to progress to the operations and survey departments.
- Learn and upgrade your skills in Autocad through in house and specialist training.
- Personal development of product knowledge encompassing all of our supply partners.
- Attend specific training days with principal suppliers and manufacturers, to enable you to become familiar with products and services necessary for the company to achieve its objectives.
Normal computer skills including Excel, Word and Outlook are essential and an ability to use a CAD system would be a bonus.
The successful applicant will be expected to use a number of industry computer based systems after training is given.
Note: The products we deal with include PVCu replacement windows and doors, aluminium replacement windows and doors, aluminium curtain walling, bi-fold doors, lift and slide doors, and high value composite windows and doors.
