JOB TITLE: Course Lead/Core Lecturer (PG Certificate in Positive Psychology Coaching, Level 7)

SALARY: GBP28,695 - GBP35,256 pro rata per annum, depending upon experience and qualifications.

CLOSING DATE: 29.05.17.

INTERVIEW DATE: 05.06.17.

WORKING HOURS: This post attracts a ratio of 0.2 (one day per week) over 52 weeks of the year. The majority of working days will be concentrated within term-time. Teaching takes place on one weekend per month, over 8 months.

THE COMPANY: Our client is a successful college in Exeter which has been established for over 35 years as a leading provider of training related to mental health and wellbeing, the majority of which is professionally accredited and/or Higher Education validated.

The college has been steadily expanding and increasing the number of courses they offer. They are currently working in partnership with a University to be able to deliver an exciting new course to their students and are looking to recruit a Course Lead/Core Lecturer for their new PG Certificate in Positive Psychology Coaching (Level 7) course.

THE ROLE: The Course Lead/Core Lecturer will manage and deliver this new Postgraduate programme currently in the process of validation, to include teaching, learning, assessment and associated academic administration.

Key Responsibilities of the Course Lead/Core Lecturer role to include:-
  • To manage the PG Certificate Positive Psychology programme.
  • To prepare for EMCC course accreditation, and ensure accreditation standards and criteria are continually met.
  • To ensure a high quality of teaching, learning and assessment is delivered throughout the programme.
  • To provide reliable ongoing support to students, both on teaching weekends and in between, including provision of tutorials.
  • To coordinate and contribute to the academic and practical assessment of students, including preparation, marking, moderation and liaison with External Examiners.
  • To contribute to the development of the course, and continually evaluate the ongoing health of the course in association with the College and the University.
  • To develop effective student placement opportunities.
  • To communicate effectively, efficiently and constructively with colleagues within the College, University and practice providers.
  • To actively promote the programme at open days, open evenings and related activities, and to contribute to the admissions process including interviewing and selection of students.
  • To attend relevant meetings and contribute to appropriate committees within the College and, where required, at the University in Worcester.
  • To carry out the duties of this post in a professional manner which promotes equality of opportunity, and shows a high level of respect and care for all employees and users of the College and University services, in accordance with the College and University Policies.


THE CANDIDATE: The role holder will need to be able to work independently, using initiative, as well as being an excellent organiser and communicator with the team as a whole, and will need the energy and enthusiasm to launch this new course successfully.

Essential criteria for the Course Lead/Core Lecturer role:
  • A relevant postgraduate degree at Level 7 or above.
  • Validated and/or professionally accredited qualification in Coaching and/or Positive Psychology .
  • Teaching qualification or HEA membership or a commitment to undertake and complete relevant PG Cert HE teaching module/s as required while in post.
  • Experience of Course or Module leadership in Higher Education.
  • A minimum of three years of professional coaching experience, with associated evidence of professional supervision, on-going relevant CPD and networking.
  • Experience of teaching, learning and assessment at Level 7.
