This company is a leading manufacturer of Polythene packaging and is a market leader with an excellent reputation for its service and quality.

They are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer which is a vital important role responsible to promote the development of a safety culture based on professional policies and best practice. And to ensure that statutory health and safety duties and legal obligations are met and up to date, across their Preston and Brighouse sites.

- To review health and safety policies, procedures and organisational arrangements to ensure their suitability and sufficiency, and their compliance with UK and EU legislation.
- Advise the management team and others on the implications of current, new and pending health and safety statute approved codes of practice, guidance and their impact on existing procedures and methods of operation.
- Advise management on safe systems of work and where necessary assist in the method statements and risk assessments process
- Review and support accident investigations and recommend appropriate remedial action.
- Attend internal and external meetings as required.
- Advise on the appropriateness of safety equipment when requested my managers, through hazard, and near misses.
- Co-ordinate and issue site accident statistics and analyse trends.
- Complete monthly report for board meetings.
- Chair and attend the Safety Committee and attend other safety related meetings as appropriate.
- To assist in the delivery of health and safety training.
- To develop and lead health and safety initiatives.
- To liaise with internal and external agencies to promote employee health and well-being.
- Maintain health and safety records for all sites.
- Contribute and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Communicate effectively with all managers and departments of the business.
- Ensure compliance for all contractors working / attending sites
- Lead in-house training with employees and managers throughout the Business.
- Communicate and correspond with government agencies as and when required

Person Specification:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualified
- Driving licence essential
- PC Literate in Microsoft office, Word, Excel, and Power point experience
- Good communication skills verbally , written, be approachable, proactive, motivational and flexible attitude.
- Comply with company & legislation policies & procedures.
- Ability to develop policies and procedures
- Hands on pragmatic leadership style and ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to be a team player as well as a team leader
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to agreed timescales

Hours of work:
Average 40hrs per week
