Our client was formed in1992 as an Air Conditioning specialist, they have developed and grown into a £10 Million turnover Mechanical Services Contractor. The company carry out projects from £5K up to £2 Million in value throughout the UK and most of their work is designed in house. They currently hold ISO 9001, aiming for ISO 14001 and plan to achieve ISO 45001. They are proud to be Investors in People and invest in training and development of staff and associated contractors.

Most of the staff have been with the company for many years and most people in senior positions have been internally promoted. Generally vacancies arise from expansion and this is to support and assist their Contracts Team.

Main Role Outlined

The role will be split between head office and site with the need to attend site to carry out surveys or attend meetings realistically 2-3 days per week, nationally.

We need a talented, energetic, dynamic and proactive Contracts Manager with great organisational skills, a good eye for quality and an attention to detail. You will have at least 5 years’ experience in a mechanical services discipline, and will have previously carried out a supervisory role within the industry.

You will want to be part of a growing organisation, and will be capable of looking after multiple projects from inception to completion at any one time, often in short timescales to tight deadlines.

Generally the duties you will be expected to undertake from the offices in Swallownest are:-

  • Working within a team, responding to requests from Clients to prepare designs and/or quotations from information provided, including site surveys and tendering for works, as necessary.
  • Assisting with the allocation of manpower with others in your team.
  • Running and assisting in the running of projects including financial control and day to day organisation of sites
  • Preparation and implementation of method statements and risk assessments and monitoring adherence.
  • Scheduling and ordering of materials.
  • Ensuring operatives comply with staff procedures with particular attention to vehicles, appearance, PPE, workplace/site, health and safety awareness.
  • Dealing with technical/fault finding issues and specialist installation queries.
  • Control of Sub-Contractors including the overseeing of specialist commissioning contractors.
  • Customer liaison including sales and marketing.
  • Ensuring compliance with staff procedures with particular adherence to Health and Safety.
  • Ensuring ISO standards are met in accordance with the role.
  • Assisting with design work on CAD and HEVACOMP as necessary.
  • Any other duties required to assist the organisation, in agreement with the directors and/or staff.

Consideration will be given to people with only some of the above skills, but obviously this will be reflected in the salary. Training will be provided as appropriate.

Qualifications Preferred

  • NVQ 2 or above in own discipline
  • SMSTS or NEBOSH training
  • First Aid at work
