Chichester College has an exciting opportunity for a Farm Manager to join the team based at our Brinsbury campuses on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. The successful Farm Manager will receive a competitive salary of £29,494 - £32,234 per annum.

We are a key provider of education and employment to those in our local communities and make a critical contribution to local economic development.  We were established in Chichester in 1964 and also have a 570 acre land-based provision on our Brinsbury campus near Pulborough. We employ over 1,250 full and part-time staff.

As our Farm Manager you will lead the team at our Stablebarn Farm, Brinsbury. This post carries responsibility for the further development of our busy working farm, the provision of a safe working environment for our students, and the provision of outstanding resources for our teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities as our Farm Manager

- Develop and maintain the commercial viability of the farm in the context of it as a teaching resource.

- Line management of farm team.

- Day-to-day liaison with Heads of Learning on curriculum matters.

- Liaison with external farm advisors, consultants and contractors as required.

- Monitoring Health and Safety of farm environment, ensuring all staff and students work within Health and Safety guidelines.

- Manage the application for Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), Higher Level Stewardship (HLS), and Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) as appropriate and ensure that at all times the college meets all aspects of Cross Compliance.

- Collection and maintenance of records on farm matters, as required by the curriculum.

Skills & Experience required of Farm Manager:

- Background in managing a farm unit; preferably, this will include

- Experience of managing grass-based livestock enterprises and of developing staff

- Knowledge of financial control, Health and Safety management and cross compliance
