The Falkland Islands are set in a unique and dramatically beautiful environment in the South Atlantic Ocean. The Falkland Islands Government is seeking to appoint a new Director of Education to take forward the strategic and operational management of all departments within the Education Directorate, including the Islands Training Centre.
The post calls for a strategically and tactically astute professional with a pragmatic and practical approach to leadership and decision making. Building on the excellent work of the current postholder, you will drive forward the strategies, plans and practical measures that have helped shape the clear direction we have developed.
We have achieved significant outcomes over recent years but cannot rest on our laurels. We therefore strive to innovate in the field of education and are passionate about our pursuit of excellence in the delivery of education and learning for every child and/or adult learner.
As a role model to others, applicants must be educated to at least first degree level or equivalent and hold professional qualifications in a relevant subject area and have substantial (e.g. 10 years) recent, relevant experience at senior management level in a comparable role. You will also be an experienced financial planner with responsibilities for substantial budgets, and have a proven track record of implementing change management and improvement programmes and the delivery of 'Value for Money' service concepts.
The appointment will be fixed term for either two or three years in the first instance with the possibility of extension of this term if mutually agreeable.
