Ambulance Care Assistant - London

Our client is a CQC registered non-emergency ambulance service providing transportation for NHS trust patients, transporting over 400,000 patients every year. They are currently recruiting for an Ambulance Care Assistant to join their team, transporting non-emergency patients to and from their designated appointments in a safe, efficient and professional manner, ensuring the wellbeing of patients in their care from showing empathy and providing reassurance, through to assessing and monitoring patients physical well being.

Where necessary you will provide medical assistance in line with PTS training provided by the company and ensure that their vehicle is safe and clean and that they are properly equipped at the start of each duty period.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate/necessary assistance for patients to access vehicles (lifting of patients, manoeuvring of wheelchairs)
- Work in a single or double crew and be able to provide assistance to patients with various mobility classifications
- Ensure that patients have all relevant and necessary paperwork, medication etc. required for attendance at appointment
- When collecting from home, check that the property is properly secured and the patient has means of entry on return
- When dropping off patients, ensure they are in a secure environment, hand over belongings into the care of a relevant person
- Recording journey information (deterioration in health, accidents, abusive behaviour)

Candidate Requirements:
- Ideally good geographical knowledge of South East London area
- At least 2 years driving experience in the UK on a full driving license with no previous penalties or more than 6 live penalty points
- Highly patient focused in attitude with caring approach
- Good communication skills
- Strong work ethic and willing to go extra mile to deliver good patient care
- Able to work both individually and in a team
- Able to complete a satisfactory enhanced DBS
- Neat and tidy appearance

All successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure and previous employment referencing. Due to operational needs they have a number of shift patterns applicable to Ambulance Care Assistants, however due to the nature of the industry flexibility is crucial.
