37.5hrs per week

As a Peer Support Worker, you will listen to, engage and support clients who are experiencing mental health crisis. Using your own experience and insight into recovery to inspire them, you will support clients in developing their understanding of recovery. You will be part of a dedicated team, providing a high quality service to help clients develop and review their recovery plans and goals and to achieve self-sufficiency. You will also support clients in developing strong support networks within the immediate and wider community; including statutory and other support services.

To succeed, you should have personal experience of using or accessing mental health services and an understanding of the needs and support requirements of people with mental health and other associated needs; including homelessness and substance use. You will also have personal experience or skills in comprehensive assessments, action planning and the ability to use own recovery skills to support others.

Active listening and good interpersonal skills combined with good numeracy, I.T and written communication skills are also required. As are having knowledge and understanding of the statutory and voluntary services in that this client group may require access to.
