This company is a market leader in sub-contract laser profiling. They operate from six sites across the UK and are experiencing year on year profitable growth. They have reached the point in their growth cycle where they need to take on a dedicated HR professional to help move the business forward. For some years they have relied heavily on external consultants for their HR support but, at GBP12m annual turnover, they believe the time is right to establish appropriate in-house expertise.
The HR Manager will support the people management functions that underpin the business. Broad areas include: employee matters, compensation, and benefits, reward, professional growth, communications and performance management.
Salary range: GBP30-40k, based on skills and experience
Location:Hixon, Staffordshire
Type: Full time, permanent (hours could be flexible for the right candidate).
Responsibilities
As their HR Manager, you will expect to take up a senior position within the company with responsibility for the following:
- Delivering a comprehensive HR service to the business
- Employee relations: including managing absence, disciplinaries, grievances and sickness
- Measuring employee satisfaction and identifying areas that require improvement
- Performance management: coaching managers on performance management issues and processes
- Learning and development: providing guidance on development for managers and their teams
- Training: implement the training and development plan, identify areas that need attention and improvement
- Recruitment and retention: managing talent and succession planning, taking overall responsibility for recruitment activity and campaigns
- Policy and procedures: implementation of new HR policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring all company policies and procedures are in line with current employment law
- Working with senior managers, coaching them and advising on all people issues
- Dealing with complex disciplinary/grievance and HR issues, using HR and company knowledge evidencing appropriate decision-making skills
- Managing HR budgets.
Skills and essentials
As HR Manager, you will be expected to show:
- Good communication skills
- Experience of adding value as both an individual contributor and active team member
- Experience of dealing with senior and sometimes challenging individuals
- Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the management team
- Ability to represent the Human Resources function as part of the bigger business picture
- Confidence in directing HR and advising managers on all aspects of people management and development
- Good understanding of employment law
- A CIPD or equivalent qualification
- A professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to deliver high employee satisfaction, appropriate development and reward for individuals.
