Fantastic opportunity not to be missed! The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) has an exciting opportunity for a Faculties Co-ordinator to join the team in Holborn. Joining us on a full time 1 year fixed term basis to cover maternity leave, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 - £33,600 per annum.

Anaesthesia is the UK’s largest secondary care specialty. 16% of all hospital consultants are anaesthetists and over two-thirds of hospital in-patients will see an anaesthetist. The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) supports approximately 17,500 members and fellows and approximately 3,500 from the RCoA’s Faculties of Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine.

The RCoA is committed to setting the highest standards for anaesthesia and patient care and we work closely with anaesthetists to improve the service they provide. This work is supported by high-quality research focusing on patients’ safety and outcomes.

The Faculties Department looks after the work of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM).

This role works with the FPM, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and has been growing from strength to strength since its inception, leading on a number of key national projects.

Both Faculties operate like Colleges in a microcosm and we are therefore tasked with activities across the whole range of College activities, including curricula, assessments, quality, e-Portfolio, e-Learning, recruitment, membership engagement, events (we run a number of events across both Faculties), examinations (each Faculty has its own examination), publications, consultations, communications, academia and more.  We work with our Deans, Board Members and Committee Members, our Fellows and Members, patient representatives, ICM and Pain Medicine trainees, Presidents and members of other Royal Colleges, the GMC and the Deaneries … to mention just a few.  All administrators have their own areas of responsibility and expertise as well as shared areas.  Everyone mucks in when required!

This diverse Faculties Co-ordinator role, supporting a number of key areas across the Faculties, offers you a fantastic opportunity to expand your experience as well as work in a professional and friendly environment.

The successful Faculties Co-ordinator candidate will be an organised and confident individual with highly developed administrative skills, who will thrive on the challenge of balancing competing and changing priorities of a number of busy areas. The role is very varied and you will find yourself managing high level committees of the Faculty, running the FPM events, looking after all matters relating to professional standards as well as maintaining the FPM website.  As the Faculties Co-ordinator, you will need to possess outstanding communication skills to enable you to produce excellent minutes, as well as quickly develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders.

A keen eye for detail and accuracy will assist you in managing website content and high level reports.  Additionally, a methodical and conscientious approach to work is a must, as is flexibility and enthusiasm to contribute to the wider team aims.

With excellent opportunities to develop and enhance your career, RCoA is the place to be. Why not click apply today to become our Faculties Co-ordinator – don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity to join the professional body responsible for the specialty of anaesthesia throughout the UK.
