Are you an experienced (10 years minimum) Safety Risk Management (SRM) Consultant working in the rail sector looking for a new opportunity?
A Senior Safety Risk Management Consultant is required in London and a Principal Safety Risk Management Consultant is required in either Leeds, York or Manchester.
Involved in some of the UK's most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding, this organisation works with blue-chip clients in the Water, Power, Rail, Aviation, Highways, Environmental, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical and Energy sectors delivering their most important projects, which include:
- Commercial, Procurement & Safety Risk Services to Network Rail Infrastructure and other rail clients such as TFL
- Highways England Commercial Division
- Aviation Portfolio
- Renewable Energy sector
- National Grid, UK Power Networks and Business Advisory for UKPN
- EA Framework
- Project Delivery for Pharmaceutical Sector
- Water Capital Investment Projects
The Role:
The position is at Senior/Principal Consultant grade, and is to undertake and provide consultancy on Engineering Safety Management (ESM) associated with the design of mainline and metro railway schemes.
The initial assignment will be to work on a major railway project, determining the Engineering Safety Management arrangements required for the project, and to ensure that all suppliers provide high quality ESM deliverables which will demonstrate a fit-for-purpose and safe railway in accordance with the requirements of the Common Safety Method.
Whilst the successful applicant will work predominantly within the rail sector, opportunities to carry out Engineering Safety Management activities in other sectors may arise from time-to-time
Areas of expertise required include:
- Safety Assurance
- Project Safety Management
- Engineering Safety Planning
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HAZOP/HAZID/FMECA)
- Detailed Safety Analysis
- Safety Risk Quantification
- Hazard Logs / Registers
- Identification of Safety-Critical Items
- Safety Cases / Justifications
- RAM (Reliability Availability Maintainability) - from top-level RAM Management and the development of RAM Plans to detailed RAM Analyses
- Systems Engineering - including Requirements Management and Verification & Validation activities
You will have recent experience of the application of Engineering Safety Management knowledge and skills (as described above) in the rail sector in a number of environments including:
- Main Line railways
- Metro / underground railways
- Subsurface ('section 12') stations
- Tram routes
- Train tunnels
- Multi-modal transport hubs
- Major station areas with retail facilities
- Control centres
- Heavy train-maintenance facilities
