LOCATION: Highbridge, Taunton and Bridgwater

JOB TITLE: Learning Disabilities Support Worker

SALARY & BENEFITS: 7.62 - 7.97 per hour + 50p extra for working weekends

WORKING HOURS: Full or part time available - alternate weekends - shifts 7.00am-2.00pm or 2.00pm-10.00pm

THE COMPANY: We are pleased to be working with our client who is a not-for-profit care provider dedicated to providing high-quality, personalised support to residential and nursing care for older people in 30 care homes in Somerset and on the Isle of Wight. An exciting opportunity has arisen for Learning Disabilities Workers to really make a difference to individual's lives in the Somerset area.

Working in the either Highbridge, Taunton or the Bridgwater area you will be supporting adults with learning disabilities / complex needs. The right candidate should be able to encourage service users to develop their skills, participate in their interest and social opportunities within a safe and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities -

- To assist customers with the day to day living tasks identified within their person centred support plans, to maximise their independence

- Personal care

- Assisting customers to prepare meals of their choice, or where necessary preparing meals for them, completing the dietary monitoring records.

- Daily living skills and developing independence

- Assist in medication administration if needed

Key experience essential for the role:

- Empathy, caring and sensitivity to the needs of others

- Driving licence - desirable

- Happy to lone work (in the customers home with customer for up to 8 hour shift)

- Happy to work full-time, alternate weekends and can do shift patterns

Previous experience working as Home Carer, Care Worker, Health Care Assistant, Support Worker, Nurses, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant, Mental Health Care Worker, Voluntary Worker are all desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
