Main Role Outlined

  • There is currently an opportunity for an experienced Draughtsman to join their team and undertake an important role within the successful Company.
  • You will liaise with the Sales Team to establish the customer’s requirements and develop a detailed design solution which is fit for purpose and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • The role will involve creating original designs and modifying or improving existing designs using CAD and 2D/3D modelling tools. You will provide technical support to other departments.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work directly with engineering staff, sales staff and customers to produce drawings from written and verbal requirements
  • Read customers technical requirements and transpose them to designs that are fit for purpose
  • Create original designs and modify or improve existing designs using 2D/3D CAD modelling tools
  • Select the correct materials and consider manufacturing requirements
  • Provide internal technical support
  • Use corporate drawing standards as guidelines
  • Ensure approval of all drawings from the Director of Engineering
  • Completion of manufacturing drawings as and when required
  • Maintain the drawings database where applicable and file paper copies
  • Liaise with the sales team and/or customer when further information is required
  • Provide copies of existing drawings as and when requested

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of design and manufacturing processes
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge
  • At least 1 years` experience using a 3D computer aided design software package on a daily basis
  • Commercially aware and results orientated
  • Self motivation with excellent organisation skills & the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to follow direction with a willingness to learn
  • A proficient user of Microsoft Office, 2D/3D CAD and AutoCAD or equivalent
  • Mechanical and technical skills with strong mathematical skills

Role Information

Sheffield Based /  37.5 hours per week   /   Permanent  /  £ 18k-25k dependent on experience + Plus Benefits
