Systems Engineering Consultant - Defence

My client operates multiple small teams and covers all areas of the defence sector. At the moment they have live programmes in the areas of Military Land Vehicles, Commercial Aircraft, Marine Surface Platforms and site infrastructure. They can offer you the chance to work on a real variety of programmes and play a key part in government programme decision making.

These roles will be suitable for both candidates from a commercial Engineering background and those from the armed forces or other government defence organisations.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Systems Engineer role

- Provide SME advice to the project team (PMs and Design Engineers) regarding the systems engineering processes
- Undertake / be responsible for capturing, validating and managing the project's requirements and Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance strategy and planning
- Co-ordinate the systems engineering activity with the Safety Case team
- Provide SME advice / be responsible for interface management for systems with the project and in the other projects
- Ensuring consistency in approach to system, design and safety requirements capture and tracking
- Support options appraisal process, design and implementation processes
- Able to identify further business opportunities with current and potential clients

Requirements for this Systems Consultant role

If you have an Engineering background
- Knowledge, skills and competencies regarding the SE principles, processes and products
- Knowledge of the DE&S Acquisition System Guidance principles, processes and product
- Skilled writer and practitioner of SE documents (SRDs, VVRMs, T&E (SE Plans (ITEAPs, Acceptance Plans).
- Skilled at preparing presentations and presenting
- Competent (or better ) with IBM Rational DOORS
- Able to take a Systems Engineering approach and apply it to a variety of technical situations
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering process / V-Model

If you have an Forces / Government agency background
- Have a technical or engineering background. Ideally educational to a min of HND in an Engineering subject area
- WO level or above from a technical area (E.G. REME or Royal Signals)
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering process / V Model
- Hold a recognised industry qualification like Prince2 or APMP
- Skilled at preparing presentations and presenting
- Knowledge of the DE&S Acquisition System Guidance principles, processes and product
