We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and creative person who is passionate about providing nutritious and delicious meals for our customers, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout our award winning activity centre.
80% of this job will be hands on cooking and supervising in the kitchen, while 20% is office based admin.
- Planning, cooking and serving nutritious meals according to the customer group, introducing new recipes, ordering food, budgeting, liaising with suppliers, organising stock taking six monthly.
- Planning and cooking meals for the local Primary School, also some event catering (not Weddings).
- Supervision of the general hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen. Organising and maintaining daily routines. Records must be maintained of fridge and freezer temperatures and equipment serviced regularly.
- Using the Food Standards Agency Safer Food, Better Business System, covers areas regarding food etc.
- In conjunction with the Centre Manager recruiting and interviewing catering and housekeeping staff, writing up staff rotas, recording staff hours and holidays.
- Training and development of the catering and housekeeping staff including induction and appraisals at regular times.
- Supervising the catering team and liaising with the Housekeeper on rotas and cleanliness.
- Cooking meals for groups and being in charge of events catering (not weddings).
- The catering manager will be part of the management team and be expected to attend weekly management meetings and annual residential.
- Liaising with The Longhouse Wedding co-ordinator and wedding caterers.
This post is a position of trust, reporting directly to the Centre Manager, but working very much without interference. The successful applicant must have previous experience of cooking for large numbers, to a high standard.
