LOCATION: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

JOB TITLE: Finance Officer

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP25k pro rata & benefits

WORKING HOURS: Part time, 14 hours per week, permanent

THE COMPANY: CDA is a charitable organisation managed and overseen by a Board of Trustees. The charity has various projects and supports Deaf people living within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. CDA receives its funding from various sources which include statutory and charitable grants.

We're a growing charity that puts deaf people at the centre of everything we do. We provide great services and have a workforce of mainly deaf or hard of hearing people.

THE ROLE: Finance Officer Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

To provide finance support to Cambridgeshire Deaf Association, reporting to the Managing Director, assisting in the day to day running of the Association and to support the Treasurer and Trustees in financial matters.

Key Responsibilities to include: - Finance Officer Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
  • Preparing and maintaining payroll for staff and casual workers.
  • Payment of invoices and creation of invoices and receipts using Quick books software package.
  • Payment of staff expenses.
  • Maintaining and balancing the Petty Cash box.
  • Maintaining auditable source documents of payments and receipts to the PQASSO and SORP standard.
  • Maintaining accurate income and expenditure accounts using Paxton Accounting software.
  • Preparation and maintenance of annual budgets for CDA as a whole.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required by the Managing Director


THE CANDIDATE- Finance Officer Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of company finances and be able to work quickly and effectively using quick-books and will ideally have relevant accounting qualifications and thorough knowledge of procedures and principles and be able to work well to deadlines when paying and sending invoices. A working knowledge of using Microsoft office, especially Excel, is expected and the applicant must have a hands-on attitude.

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and has great organisational skills that not only is a methodical worker but has the ability to deliver results whilst working well under pressure

Key experience for the role: Finance Officer Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
  • Experience in finance/ accountancy role which involved preparing company/ or charity accounting & budgets, and experience of using QuickBooks
  • Professional qualification with a recognised accountancy body or significant and continuing progress towards such a qualification.
    • Ability to work occasional agreed flexible hours
    • Good IT skills
    • Sign language or experience of deaf people highly desirable
    • Driving license and access to vehicle advantageous
