Currently we are looking for a children's physiotherapist to work between an SEN school and our clinics.

Physio.co.uk has an exciting opportunity for a paediatric physiotherapist to join the team.  We are working with a SEN school in Salford and require a full time physiotherapist to split their time between providing support to the school and working in our central Manchester clinic.

 

The school caters for SEN children ranging from 11-19 years of age, with a variety of complex needs including neurological conditions, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and autism.  Caters for students at key stage 3, 4 & 5.

 

Work will involve providing screening, assessments and 1:1 therapy to children; helping them work towards reaching physical milestones and maximise the quality of their life.  Responsibilities will include training school staff, parents and carers and collaborating with a wider MDT of Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, psychologists, dietitians, school nurses and educational staff.  It will also include involvement in meetings with teams around specific children, such as child at risk, child protection and SEN review teams.  We anticipate the role will also specifically require sensory integration and hydrotherapy sessions.

 

 

What does it take to be successful in this role?

To be successful in this role you would need to:

  • Provide a high quality of evidence based physiotherapy to children of all ages in education settings
  • Train school staff, other therapists and parents and carers to effectively deliver appropriate therapeutic intervention.  
  • Be able to consider the holistic needs of each child when working to achieve the child’s goals and aspirations
  • Help children make significant progress with regards to their physical developmental milestones
  • Effectively support and supervise other physiotherapists
  • Develop a strong rapport with children, education staff and families
  • Act as a champion for the service and physiotherapy as a profession
  • Demonstrate commitement to CPD and keep up to date with new treatment techniques.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree/Masters degree in Physiotherapy
  • Member of CSP
  • HCPC Registered
  • Post-graduate experience working within paediatrics
  • Experience supervising others
  • Experience providing physiotherapy assessments and interventions for children

The successful applicant will possess exceptional clinical skills, along with a strong foundation of verbal and written communication in order to facilitate the delivery of the highest quality evidence based treatment.  They will be a confident of their teaching abilities, able to adapt to a variety of audiences and will have a flexible and innovative approach.  They will also be passionate about their own continuous professional development (CPD).

 

The successful candidate will work well collaboratively and will be open minded and keen to learn from the experiences of other professionals around them.  They will be capable of working independently, prioritising and organising their own workload appropriately and able to use their initiative to deal effectively with a varying situations that may arise.  

 

As the role will involve travelling between locations, we would recommend having a driving licence and access to a car.  We are also looking for a candidate who is willing to take annual leave outside of school term time.
