Senior Buyer required to join an expanding company based in Clevedon, to cover all aspects of managing and developing the supply base to support standard production and commercialisation projects
- GBP36,000 - GBP41,000 per annum
- 37.5 hour per week contract
- 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holiday
- Performance related bonus scheme

As a Senior Buyer your duties will be to:
- To ensure that a defined range of suppliers are capable of meeting Supply Chain requirements with respect to material supply of components, on time and in a responsive, consistent and cost effective manner. This will be based on measuring compliance with operational service level agreements, and will involve using available tools, maintaining and publishing performance data.
- You will become a member of the Strategic Procurement Team and operate at a strategic level
- Provide close support to operations management for production material supply. This will involve leading structured review meetings with a range of disciplines to identify problems and corrective actions.
- Identify problem areas and resolve short and long term supply issues. This will involve expediting, organising business reviews with suppliers, establishing improvement plans to improve responsiveness, seeking agreement to implement buffer stocking, consignment stock and kanban systems.
- Continually review all purchasing systems and implement improvement where appropriate.
- Responsible for a range of suppliers and commodities to ensure the smooth running of the Supply Chain Dept.
An ideal Buyer will hold the following skills and experiences:
- 3 years experience within a manufacturing environment requiring an essential need for a responsive supply base.
- 5 years experience in a purchasing and supply function within a JIT manufacturing environment.
- Self starter and effective time manager. Ability to prioritise tasks
- Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use computerised manufacturing systems - SAP experience sought
- Able to read engineering drawings.
- Working towards CIPS qualification preferred.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment requiring an essential need for a responsive supply base.
- Experience in a purchasing and supply function within a JIT manufacturing environment.
- Must have a demonstrable experience of operating within a Total Quality environment in which teamwork and continuous improvement is essential.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
