Our Client is an innovative, modern arms-length housing organisation (ALMO), created in October 2005 employing approximately 540 staff and managing 11,500 properties across the borough of Stockport.

They are recognised as a Sunday Times Top 100 ‘Best Places to work in the Public Sector’ employer, have been awarded Investors in People (Gold) status and are also thrilled to have been named UK’s Top Landlord after winning the 24Housing magazine vote.

They now have an opportunity available for a Technical Surveyor to join them to provide a technical support service for the business, working closely with a range of stakeholders to deliver a wide range of repairs services.

Working in a whole range of properties including domestic properties, commercial premises, public buildings and schools, you will conduct in depth surveys to assist with the diagnosis of disrepair issues and minor structural defects; carrying out ‘work in progress’ visits and audit inspections to ensure that specifications and quality standards are complied with.

Preparing schedules of work and prioritising work as required, you must monitor completion dates and quality of contractor work and identify repairs to void dwellings as part of our process for the re letting of properties.  You must also obtain accurate and detailed information about necessary repairs/improvements to properties, undertake a range of surveys, i.e. Stock Condition, Energy Efficiency, HHSRS, Legionella and Asbestos and carry out scheduled (appointed) and random surveys to properties in order to identify work to be carried out.

With a recognised building qualification (ONC or equivalent) and ideally with a trade background, you will have experience of working in a social housing environment and a comprehensive understanding of Legionella management, the L8 ACOP and the HHRSR legislation.  Knowledge of Disrepair protocol resolving claims is essential and you must have a comprehensive understanding of dampness and condensation related defects and resolutions.  Candidates should also have experience of dealing with building contractors, a working knowledge of building contracts and knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at work, Party wall act etc.

Interview date: Monday 5th June 2017
