LOCATION: Leeds, West Yorkshire

JOB TITLE: Healthcare Projects Co-ordinator

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP27,304 pro rata plus optional pension

WORKING HOURS: 14 - 18 hours per week (to be agreed) The post will require occasional evening and weekend work for which time off in lieu is usually given

THE COMPANY: Epilepsy Action is a national charity based in Yeadon, West Yorkshire, fulfils a number of varied functions, including providing advice, information and support, producing publications, administering the database of our members, campaigning and lobbying relevant bodies, amongst other activities. To achieve this we rely heavily on income attained through fundraising and our expenditure is managed to support these activities

THE ROLE: Healthcare Projects Co-ordinator - Leeds, West Yorkshire

Improving health services for people with epilepsy.

A UK-wide role co-ordinating epilepsy healthcare projects and advising on good practice standards in epilepsy care. The role will include work with clinicians, researchers and the involvement of people with epilepsy in projects across the UK.

This is an opportunity to get involved in work with health providers and commissioners in developing professional resources promoting, good practice and facilitating improvements.

The role would suit someone with knowledge of the NHS who is a good communicator with great negotiation skills and good project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:- Healthcare Projects Co-ordinator - Leeds, West Yorkshire

To manage healthcare projects to improve services for people with epilepsy and meet identified needs and deliver outcomes
  • Develop and promote suitable tools and training for healthcare professionals and the NHS, in order to support epilepsy specific services to implement best practice standards.
  • Work with NHS Trusts and commissioners to facilitate improvements in the quality of care.
  • To provide epilepsy services to people with epilepsy, their families and those with an interest in the condition
  • To support and inform those who work in a professional capacity delivering services to people with epilepsy
  • To influence service providers and decisions makers through awareness raising, research, consultation, lobbying and influencing changes in the healthcare system

Key skills and experience:- Healthcare Projects Co-ordinator - Leeds, West Yorkshire
  • At least two years' experience of working in the health service environment & negotiating service provision at a senior level
  • A minimum of one year's experience of project management
  • Excellent verbal communication skills across all levels, especially among professional people
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience of negotiating with senior clinical and management staff in a health care setting desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS and health policy highly advantageous
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required, the job will entail occasional travelling all over the UK and working some unsociable hours
