They are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the team (15 to 25 hours per week) to enable the next phase of their growth.
This is an opportunity to play a senior role in the development of an exciting travel company.
Job purpose
- ensure the company has up to date, complete and accurate accounting records.
- develop a financial infrastructure that allows efficient operational running with financial control, clarity and understanding throughout the business. Working closely with sales, operations and technology teams to optimise company-wide accounts systems and processes.
- forecast and manage the cash position, including foreign exchange trading
- support the Managing and Finance Directors in the financial management of the business.
Responsible for
- Up to date, complete, accurate accounting records.
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including preparing and posting journals.
- Forecasting and managing cashflow.
- Financial forecasting and modeling ideas for growth and development.
- Supporting and educating the sales and operations team on sound financial management.
- Design and continual development of financial processes throughout business.
- Input into the development of all business processes and systems, relating to efficiency and profitability.
- Preparing & submitting VAT returns.
- Liaising with HMRC.
- Liaising with their accountants in the preparation of statutory accounts and tax returns.
- Management & development of Bookkeeper
- Supporting MD and FD
Line Manager: Managing Director, with support provided by the Finance Director (a part-time role).
Manages: Bookkeeper, to be recruited by you.
Success looks like
- Financial data is complete, accurate and up to date.
- Financial processes are efficient, robust and working well.
- Financial transparency and understanding throughout the business.
- Well-managed cash position.
- HMRC and other filing deadlines are met.
Experience and skills needed
- CIMA qualified accountant.
- At least two years experience of working at financial controller level or similar.
- Adept at building trusting relationships with senior commercial managers in a business.
- Able to provide financial clarity in a positive and enabling way.
- Experience of developing financial processes, implementing efficiencies and managing change.
- Understands what it's like to work in a small, rapidly growing business.
