Our client wants their customers to love them as much as they love them. And building brand recognition plays a central part in this. It will be your job to support the Design Managers in our General Merchandising design team developing their own brand product packaging - they're talking about 7,500 packaging SKUs per year so you'll be working in a fast-paced setting. This doesn't just involve making things look good either; you'll be playing an integral part in achieving creative guardianship of our own brand portfolio

GM (General Merchandise) is the side of the business that offers customers products for their home. This side of the business consists of the following categories - Bath, Curtains, Cushions, rugs, bedding, clocks, photo frames, lighting, kitchen accessories, dine, bedding, motor, DIY, small domestic appliances & Storage.


Design guidelines are produced by the design team, and used by an external artwork partner to produce each individual piece of packaging artwork.

You'll be responsible for:

  • By working with the team and spending time in store, it's important you understand the GM brand strategy and design application of packaging to support the strategy.

  • Understanding of the design strategy on a category basis and help build/review category design guidelines.

  • Liaising with internal artwork agencies and external overseas vendors.

  • Management and approval of final artwork to ensure that the final packaging artwork/design adheres to category design guidelines.

  • Ensuring design/artwork has been applied to cutters in the correct format and preserving consistency across the range.

  • Use an online asset management system to review artwork and communicate amends to all stakeholders.

  • Check that the final photography is on brand and correct to design guidelines.

  • Review of the master guidelines and make sure they are kept to up to date with any design amends made to category design strategy.

  • Build relationships and communication channels with the onsite account management team from the artwork agency.

You'll have:

  • Preferably a degree level qualification in graphic design and/or working in a graphic design agency/in-house design studio

  • A good understanding of brand and packaging design management

  • Technical knowledge of artwork, repro and print process

  • Competent in basic Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop software

  • Ability to multi-task and work at pace

  • Great communication and networking skills

  • A keen eye for detail
