Our client is one of the leading manufacturers of building products for the UK’s construction industry. They provide the materials for life’s essential structures, helping their customers build with ease and confidence.
They are entering an exciting new era – as a leader and innovator in the construction industry, they are stepping up another level. They have an extensive network of 17 manufacturing facilities in the UK, employing approximately 1,600 people.
Their HR department is embarking on a significant change programme under new leadership, and joining them as Head of Learning & Development, you will be instrumental to that change.
About the Role
Reporting to the HR Director, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing an L&D strategy that will build and promote a learning culture together with an engaging leadership proposition in line with the company’s strategic plan.
Establishing a self-service, employee led culture to the personal development planning approach, you will design, develop and implement an L&D infrastructure whilst diagnosing and communicating L&D capability improvements. Sourcing suppliers and content that can be delivered through a combination of in house and outsourced, you will guide and support the commercial business decisions on accredited and qualified learning and work with the selected strategic partner for the design and delivery of the programme modules for the Senior Leadership Group. Supporting the HR Director to develop the company Leadership Development Programme, you will run the Executive Teams’ mid-year and end of year Talent & Succession, coaching and support the HR team in the required facilitation skills for the rest of the Group.
This opportunity presents a ‘blank canvas’ for you to truly own and create the learning agenda for the organisation. This role is about innovating and creating, not fine tuning an already well run machine.
About You
They are looking for an individual who has previous experience of working in a ‘best practice’ L&D environment, looking for the next step in their career and owning the business L&D agenda. They are looking for someone who can demonstrate passion for manufacturing, including continuous improvement, so that with your commercial acumen, you will be comfortable partnering across the whole business.
Educated to degree level or equivalent and with a membership to an appropriate professional body such as Chartered MCIPD, you will be able to work as an integral member of ‘one HR’ team and be able to challenge and influence in a positive manner. Experience of stand-up training delivery and facilitation is a pre-requisite as is experience of the logistics, FMCG or manufacturing sector.
