Now Healthcare Group is looking for an experienced Android programmer to be involved in the development of an innovative health platform. Dr Now is a technology innovator in the healthcare sector.
We are looking for a Mid Android Developer responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a vast number of diverse Android devices. Your primary focus will be the development of Android applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be working along-side other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, commitment to teamwork, collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.
What are the responsibilities of the Mid Android Developer?
- Produce documentation such as product requirements and test plans.
- Publish internal and public app builds.
- Follow security best practises.
- Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
- Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java code
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
What do we look for in a Mid Android Developer?
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
- Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
- Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch”
- Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
- Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
- Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
- A knack for benchmarking and optimization
- Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
- Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
Experience of the following would be an advantage:
- Experience with wearables is desirable.
- Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
- Familiarity with continuous integration
- Software localization
- Familiarity of WebRTC
- Familiarity or awareness of Azure or AWS mobile cloud services
- Experience of Agile methodologies i.e. SCRUM, KANBAN
- Educated to degree level or have 2 years relevant experience.
The post is based at our offices but occasional travel may be required. As part of the interview process, candidates will be presented with a number of technical tasks to test some of the key skills required for this position.
