Service Technician (Cage Wash)

Starting salary £17,088 - £19,850 per annum

Band salary £17,088 - £31,099 per annum

The Medical Research Council is a government-funded institute dedicated to the advancement of research into human disease. We are looking to recruit a Service Technician within our rodent facility, based on the Babraham Research Campus, south of Cambridge. The facilities provide an excellent working environment using the most up-to-date resources and extensive automation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivery and collection of animal cages to specified areas

• Processing of water bottles

• Delivery of stores and stock rotation

• Operation of robotic cage processing equipment, autoclaves and other machinery

• Maintenance and routine cleaning of equipment

• Laundry duties

• Cleaning of service support areas and other communal areas on a rota basis

• Use of forklift truck, pallet trucks and other similar equipment

For this post you will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C or equivalent including Maths and English and will work well as part of a team and as an individual. You will also form strong working relationships. Ideally, you will have experience of working with automated and semi-automated, machinery. It would be an advantage to hold a current forklift licence, but training would be given, if required.
