Overall Purpose Of Role

We need to strengthen and maintain the Legacy system and facilitate strong understanding of the system functionality in order to verify requirements and support transition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering level 3 support for MMS, enhancing and supporting the key data adjustments required for our regulatory change programme and being an SME for the migration.

Key Accountabilities

  • Liaise with the regulatory programme across a broad range of change related activities.
  • Delivery of development work products and artefacts in line with project plans
  • Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirement and Barclays policies and standards
  • Actively participate in internal initiatives outside project work (for example, adoption of new tools and internal process improvements)
  • Assist the Project Manager with managing work stream scope

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Work closely with peers within level 2 support teams, regulatory and migration projects.
  • Liaise with project architects, project managers and product owners.
  • Potentially Line manages individuals, including Performance Management, Interim and Annual Reviews, Personal and Professional Development needs.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to ensure that all staff are aligned to the goals and culture of both Corporate Technology and Barclays.
  • Rigorously discharge all of the Group's HR policies (including Performance Development, Equality and Diversity, Disciplinary & Grievance) in respect of staff Line Managed
  • Act as a role model in terms of both delivery and behaviour for all staff in Corporate Technology personal
  • Demonstrate total commitment to the personal and professional development of all members of Corporate Technology personal
  • Mentor and coach colleagues and clients by sharing experience

Decision-Making & Problem Solving

  • Support project management in defining the project and producing the project definition/Viability Assessments and supporting plans
  • Actively contribute to the realisation of the project aims and objectives, and the contribution of development activities to those aims and objectives
  • Manage specific project workstreams to meet project targets
  • Effective management and reporting of own time to deliver against project plan
  • Report progress regularly to the project manager
  • Provide objective analysis of SME output
  • Provide analytical support to project management and the Corporate Technology Personal leadership team where appropriate

Person Specification

  • Strong development experience, ideally within the financial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Ingres/Openroad, SQL, unix operating platforms, Shell Scripts.
  • Experience of working within a SDLC and/or Agile project environment
  • Ability to ensure appropriate development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall etc.) are adhered to and have strong communication skills with other project stakeholders.
  • BSc degree in relevant software engineering discipline, equivalent to UK 2nd class honours.
  • Strong presentation and documentation skills
  • Preferable - Corporate Technology operational landscape knowledge
