Department Profile:
The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Team Profile:
SSBO provides utility processing services to Global Operations. By functionalizing processes across segments, SSBO realizes efficiencies through scale, location strategy and adoption of best practices. SSBO provides quality operational core processes at an optimal price point, with maximum benefit to MS business lines. Services currently provided by SSBO include Cash Management, OTC Derivative and Security Settlements, Position Services, Reconciliations, Tax, Client Reference Data, Network Management and Vendor Management.
Payment Control Change the Bank (CTB) team within Shared Services and Banking Operations (SSBO) CTB is the change agent in support to Payment Control department, focusing on Transactional Screening, Payment Utility and elements of Fraud functions.
Key Responsibilities:
A qualified candidate is able facilitate a strategic change agenda in the following areas:
- Ownership and involvement in multiple streams of work simultaneously
- Work with Operations and GFC users to define scope, document current state processes and agree business requirements
- Design future state process flows, incorporate new business requirements and obtain required signoffs
- Liaise with Technology colleagues to ensure business requirements are understood by development teams and converted into functional requirements
- Review functional specifications and design documents to ensure that they support agreed business requirements
- Own and coordinate the delivery of specific project activities and phases, for example requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, user training, operational procedures and go-live planning
- Formal and informal status reporting
- Proactive issue resolution and escalation, and post go-live production support
- Ability to take high level summaries of potential project work and turn them into well-defined proposals
Qualifications
Skills Required:
- Strong project management/business analyst experience throughout the complete system development lifecycle from inception to implementation
- Proven leader that can facilitate and drive change across many different facets of organizations, processes and technologies
- Strong understanding of the IT development process and approach
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; able to lead and execute critical business analysis, requirements capture, design discussion and issue resolution
- Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships at all levels
- Strong excel and power point skills
Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge of payments
- Fraud agenda, AML and OFAC screening specifically
- Prior experience coordinating with Compliance and responding to regulators
