Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Analyst in our Audience Engagement team based in Central London.



About Audience Engagement

Audience Engagement is a multidisciplinary team that sits in the NBH newsroom, in action since mid-2015. It has three priorities for getting BBC journalism in front of more audiences:
creating of a data-led newsroom, connecting with underserved audiences, increasing referrals to BBC News from search and social
We employ five approaches: real time insights, training, growth experiments, dashboards and investigations (deep dives) into what is and isn't working.

Role Responsibility
We are seeking an experienced and imaginative SEO & Traffic Acquisition expert who will help us drive significant traffic growth from Search Engines and other channels.



The role is responsible for the delivery of the following SEO strategies and workflows:
Identify & monitor traffic acquisition KPIs. Take ownership of and build out the toolset for SEO traffic analytics Compile and present traffic reports and clearly show the effects of your activities in the data Evangelise, convince, and work closely with product managers, developers and journalists to ensure that they understand the importance of SEO, and how to correctly implement opportunities for traffic acquisition and measurement Write clear technical specifications for Front-end Engineers implementing SEO best practices, and properly QA their work Keep abreast of industry trends, SEO best practices, and Google algorithm updates. Understand the implications for our business and take action to quickly seize opportunity and reduce risk Develop collaborative working relationships inside and outside the BBC to ensure that projects are co-ordinated and managed effectively and that where possible, common systems, processes and tools are adopted to meet the strategic needs of the Division Negotiate and implement service contracts with internal and external support vendors where appropriate. Ensure that high levels of delivery and service support are provided as per the agreements Directly report to the Product Manager, Audience Engagement

The Ideal Candidate
Some of the skills that are required for this role are as below -
Proven experience leading SEO strategy and projects to successfully build audiences for global-scale, multilingual News products and services. In-depth technical understanding of SEO issues and solutions, such as URL canonicalization, HTTP response codes, errors and redirects. Expert user of Google Webmaster Tools for improving the performance of News sites in search results Good understanding of structured data approaches, such as schema.org, and how they can help SEO Experience working with Journalists to help them get the most out of SEO without compromising the quality of their work
