An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Facilities Engineering team at our clients manufacturing facility based in Plymouth.
The successful candidate will be part of a team providing 7 day / 24 hour support for the site services and utilities required to allow production of our client products. He/she will also be a member of the site emergency response team and play a full role in maintaining the site safety standards and protocols.The shift will consist of 2 days, 2 nights and 4 days off (12 hour shifts).
Duties
- Preventative and corrective maintenance of all of the site's plant and equipment
- Fault finding and repair of technical failures
- Undertaking improvement projects and tasks as part of the Facilities Team
- Monitoring and maintaining control of the conditions provided to manufacturing to allow successful production to occur.
- Ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are followed
- Acting as part of the site Emergency Response Team, responsible for coordinating staff and liaising with emergency services during incidents.
- Ensure that all necessary infrastructures (stores, supplies) are in place to maintain assigned equipment or system performance
- Addressing and resolving process and site failures in a timely manner
- Providing technical support and assistance to vendors and contractors
- Show a high level of commitment to achieving the business goals
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude and level of commitment when working on systems and equipment.
- Show capability to contribute to problem solving teams to address issues that may arise within an assigned module or more general problems that may require a wider organisational approach.
Skills/ Qualifications Required
Essential:
- Must have a minimum of an ONC in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Applicants with a HNC would be highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning systems, pumps, motors, compressors, electrical distribution and water services.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
- Ability to support the 24 hour, 7 day per week operation by working a shift pattern
- Knowledge of Electrical and/or Mechanical building services
- Ability to act as a member of the Emergency Response Team
- Ability to work on own initiative and self motivated
- Ability to work within prescribed time scales and within specified budgets
Desirable:
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Prior experience working as a Facilities/ Maintenance Engineer within a Manufacturing facility or in a Manufacturing Facilities support role
- An aspiration for future progression up the engineering ladder, providing specialist knowledge, skills and support in a facilities dayshift role (Highly desirable)
- Qualified to 16th or 17th Edition wiring regulations
- Prior experience with a Building Management System
- Excellent team working and communication skills
- Experience in low voltage distribution system electrical testing would be an advantage.
