Head of New Lending Product Development

The creation of the Ring Fenced Bank in the UK has driven a need to align responsibility for Lending in UK CMB with one area. This has significantly expanded the scope of the UK team necessitated the build out of the leadership capability across the function, to ensure each key area is effectively managed. The Lending Product function has a key forward looking and proactive role, managing significant risks effectively, driving change efficiently and delivering an improved customer and colleague experience.

The role of Head of New Lending Product Development will be responsible for leading the design, implementation and management of the overall product strategy for lending products whilst prioritising existing/new product development/improvement activities. The role holder will actively engage with several stakeholders to ensure alignment, standardisation and optimisation of the core product offerings.

Your responsibilities will include:

The development/improvement of existing/new products by gaining agreement and buy-in from internal teams and key senior stakeholders Driving new product strategy by sharing feedback around existing/potential product offerings and by providing subject matter expertise and professional support/challenge to internal teams, e.g. credit, global CMB, etc. Consideration of new product/process development initiatives e.g. government schemes for lending Preparing the risk forum papers/briefing around for new product proposals and reviews Developing and managing relationships with other departments responsible for delivering the product proposition to ensure on time and budget delivery - e.g. IT, channels, operations, change delivery, etc. Manage the coaching and provision of development support to RMs on L&TM product skills to ensure knowledge and experience is kept up to date following changes to existing products and the development of new products Lead and manage the team to deliver a superior service, the Group strategy and business objectives with line management responsibilities for one or more product managers. Ensure development activities are a core priority and enable all team members to take reasonable time for learning and developmental activities


Qualifications


The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant knowledge and experience of lending products Experience working within the financial sector and preferably within commercial banking Previous product management and/or new product development experience A track record of delivering significant change which utilises relevant tools, improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively Dealt effectively with highly complex commercial information and business challenges to create strategic business plans which effectively deliver results
The base location for this role is Birmingham

We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced b ank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
