A superb opportunity has arisen for a hardworking and flexible individual to join the quality focused team within the Sorting Laboratory Department at Cogent, on a 9 to 12 month contract to cover maternity leave. Although not guaranteed, should business needs arise there may be an opportunity to be extended to a permanent contract.

Previous laboratory experience and/or an interest in science would be preferable but are not essential as full training will be provided as long as you’re enthusiastic and willing to learn everything you need to know to become a successful Lab Technician.

So, what will the role of Lab Technician entail?

Reporting to the Sorting Laboratory Supervisor, as a Sorting Lab Technician, your responsibilities and duties will include although not be limited to; the preparation, operation and maintenance of production equipment; semen assessment, processing and freezing; and record keeping.

Salary:                          £17,670 per annum pro rata

Additional benefits:       29 days annual leave pro rata, including statutory bank holidays

Hours of work:              Full time, working 48 hours every 8 days. You’ll be working a 4 days in, 4 days out rota, covering a continental shift pattern:       

7am to 7pm for the first 2 days

7pm to 7am for the following 2 days

Contract type:               9 to 12 month contract. Although not guaranteed, should business needs arise there may be an opportunity to be extended to a permanent contract.

Location:                      Aldford, Chester. You’ll also be required to travel occasionally to the Cogent head office located in Tattenhall, Chester.
