Basic qualifications:
• Time served apprenticeship (HNC/HND) and / or relevant industry experience.
• Strong Electro-Mechanical background with 'hands on' experience in complex maintenance and repair tasks
• Experience on large plant such as steam, pneumatic and vacuum systems.
• A good understanding of BMS (ideally PCS7) and equipment control software, including fault codes and diagnostics.
• Experience of implementing preventative maintenance and continuous improvement within routine tasks.
• Experience of working within the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar production / service environment

Preferred qualifications:
• Engineering HNC/HND's or equivalent, and relevant industry qualifications are desirable.
• Ability to understand P&ID's at system and sub-system level.
• Analytical skills preferred to be able to undertake problem solving and root cause activities that require numeracy and practical skills.
• Ability to operate (with support of operations technicians) complex equipment to replicate or reproduce faults to aid diagnosis and correction.
• Track record of engagement in problem solving on issues.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Excellent forward planning and organisational experience required including shift handovers.
• Previous team experience is highly advantageous.
• A background in producing accurate reports and records for all activities and areas of responsibilities.
• Previous manufacturing experience, preferably within an aseptic environment, would be advantageous.
• Supplier/contractor supervision experience

At Worthing, our focus is to manufacture and supply the broad spectrum antibiotic, Augmentin as oral tablets, suspensions and sterile injectable dose forms. The site has a complex operation with two orals manufacturing areas, two packing areas with 12 lines, a bulk sterile manufacturing plant and two vial filling lines.

The Steriles Value Stream is currently undergoing exciting major investment with the GBP118 million new 'state of the art' Augmentin Bulk Steriles (ABS) manufacturing facility to produce Augmentin. The new facility will not be completed until Q1 2019, but we are in a position to start looking for talented individuals to join the team on this exciting project.

The key purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient up-keep and running of the new ABS facility as well as providing innovative improvement ideas to ensure that performance is continually improving, and no gaps in engineering support are found.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team contribution and participation - fully engaged participation within a team of engineering staff working within the ABS production environment.
• Working within the team to continuously improve the capability of self and the overall team to increase their performance towards targets.
• Participation in, and coaching of colleagues, in teams on shift to ensure adherence to targets and standards for safety, quality, compliance and output.
• Taking additional responsibility for compliance by undertaking roles such as safety reps, quality reps, permit receiver, etc. for the shift
• Involvement in reviewing resourcing of area including task assignment.
• Problem Solving and Performance Management within the ABS Engineering areas of responsibility.
• Fully supporting the GPS performance management process within the ABS facility, ensuring accurate and timely data is used.
• Real time issue identification and resolution involvement, including participating in problem solving process with operations colleagues and, where necessary, support functions.
• Aware of "TOP 3 issues" with aligned target conditions/actions using Lead and Lag measures to track and improve.
• Attending appropriate Deviation Clinics (project or manufacturing), and participating in problem solving processes to avoid reoccurrence of issues.
• Enabling the area to return to standard after a safety, quality or performance/output deviation/incident in a controlled manner, through use of the Excellence in Deviation Management methodology.
• Supporting safety investigations and ensuring completion of resultant actions.
• Ensuring that they have an awareness of the cost budget for the area, and the impact that they can have (i.e. batch rejects, process waste, overtime, training, consumables, etc)
• Ensuring adoption and adherence to the Engineering technician Standard Work, when in place, and engagement with Gemba, Zoning and 5S within their area of responsibility to improve performance - ABS Engineering
• Input to GSK systems e.g. SAP, eBRS, Siemens PCS7, etc.
• To undertake any other duties as required.
