Data Product Manager - Milton Keynes
My client is a leading financial services organisation who are looking for a Data Product Manager based in Milton Keynes on a permanent basis. This is a role for an experienced leader that sees Big Data as a strategic technology for the future and wants the challenge of running agile data products and squads.
This role will report to the Head of Data Services within Data innovation and responsibilities include:
- Managing the demand coming to a product (Data API, Data interface or other) from the different consumers.
- Articulating the needs and pain points into requirements, user stories for the right products and engaging the teams involved into defining the best solutions.
- Launching, managing and delivering data initiatives with an agile approach, using test driven development or behaviour driven development and leveraging continuous integration platform to deliver value and quality quickly.
- Building and managing an effective agile team, by keeping the members of the team aligned and ensuring they are empowered and able to work autonomously.
- Growing their own and the team's knowledge of the technology and coordinating with the rest of the area to support the improvement of the platform.
About you:
- Experience in the banking industry, a good understanding of the business and existing platforms
- An experienced leader of people, able to run teams effectively and create new teams from scratch.
- Experience in data driven delivery and agile methods.
- Significant project management experience, preferably in using the agile approach, acting as single point of accountability and proven experience in driving initiatives to achieve successful results.
- Capacity to deep dive into the scope of the project, get hands on into the analysis, design and definition of user stories and solutions.
- Have a passion for new technologies, particularly Big Data, along with an innovative approach to technology, delivery and value generation.
- Knowledge and experience in Big Data, particularly Hadoop (ideally CDH), Hive, Impala, Oozie & Spark.
- Experience in building applications, ideally in Java, is key.
- The candidate must be a driven leader able to thrive in a dynamic and uncertain environment and with the ability to question and challenge established truths and be able to overcome barriers.
