Cambridge University Press has a unique opportunity available for a Managing Editor to join the team. The role is a full time, 12 month fixed term contract offering a salary of £31,518 - £37,191 per annum plus benefits.

What are the responsibilities of the Managing Editor?

We are looking for an individual to develop market-specific ELT materials for 12 months to cover a secondment. You will be joining a team which is dedicated to reacting quickly to market-driven opportunities.

Your responsibilities will involve project managing multi-level, multi-component courses. You will be managing and co-ordinating in-house and external project teams and you may be required to commission additional or adapted content. You may also line manage one or more junior colleagues.

What do we look for in a Managing Editor?

Candidates should have experience of teaching English as a foreign language and must show a sound understanding of what makes good classroom material. You should already have spent a considerable period of time in an ELT publishing environment with experience of editorial project management.  Experience of both print and digital development is essential.

You will have excellent organisational skills and a proven track record of delivering market-focused products on time and to budget.  Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team as well as a high degree of self-reliance are imperative. You will also need to demonstrate strategic and commercial awareness.

A degree and a recognised ELT qualification are essential. A higher ELT qualification such as the TEFL Diploma is an advantage.
