A vacancy has arisen for a full time Paralegal to work in the Employment team in our Exeter Office.

The Role:

You will be working as a Paralegal within the Employment Team.  Your role will include both working on our employer advisory service, HRExpress, and supporting the broader Employment team.

Within HRExpress, you will be required to cover our HRExpress helpline on a rota basis, so you will need to have a flexible approach, a good telephone manner and the ability to work within a fast-paced and closely-knit team environment. HRExpress focuses on advising our employer clients on the telephone and by email, as well as providing supporting letters and documents, carrying out research, and drafting contracts and handbooks using an extensive bank of precedents and legal resources.

Within the broader Employment team, you will be involved in supporting partners and senior fee earners with litigation and dispute work, corporate support work (including large-scale redundancies, restructuring and transfers of businesses) and other employment work.

You will be expected to be able to produce written advice of a high standard although your work will be supervised and checked by the relevant fee earner where appropriate.

You will be expected to be self-supporting, and in that regard you will need a good typing speed and good ICT skills. You will need to be able to conduct research, draft documents and be able to discuss cases with clients.

Are you the right person?

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a focus on exceptional client care. You will have an excellent academic record and a good working knowledge of employment law and HR practice.

The position would suit someone who is interested in this area of law, highly organised, accurate, proactive and committed to meeting deadlines while remaining calm under pressure. Excellent all round communication skills, professional telephone manner and attention to detail is essential.

Ideally you will have a law degree (or equivalent) and LPC with an Employment elective, or alternatively a law degree (or equivalent) and previous experience of working in HR in an advisory capacity.  You also need to be able to use online legal resources and be competent and able to adapt to our IT practices.

What we can offer you:

In return you will be offered a competitive salary, 25 days' holiday per year, and life assurance along with a range of other benefits.

If this sounds like you and you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please send your application by email (quoting your current or last salary) enclosing an up to date CV by clicking apply.
