The Capital Management Manager role is based within Corporate Banking Department. The role is a key part of the HSBC UK Bank plc (HBUK) Asset and Liability Capital Management (ALCM) sub-function and delivering for major stakeholders.

These will consist of:
HBUK Senior Management, in particular the HBUK Head of ALCM and HBUK Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Regional HSBC Bank plc - UK Bank / Retail bank (HBEU) ALCM, in particular the Co-Heads of ALCM, Europe and the Capital Management team for HBEU. Regulators, in particular the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Credit rating agencies. HBUK functions and businesses, including Finance, BSM, Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM), Commercial Banking (CMB), Global Private Bank (GPB) and M&S Bank.

The role requires a high degree of autonomy, technical knowledge and experience to meet the needs of these stakeholders.

The role of the Capital Management Manager is to The purpose of this role is to lead the capital management activities within the ALCM sub-function for HBUK, overseeing balance sheet evolution and effective support to the Head of ALCM and businesses in the management of balance sheet risks.

The role supports various activities to achieve the goals and objectives of the HBUK CFO, following the strategy set by the HBUK Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Europe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Head of ALCM, Europe the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Your responsibilities will include:
Impacting on the Business / Function. Key role within the HBUK ALCM sub-function. Creating an effective governance framework for capital management in HBUK including Stress Testing. Supporting and challenges Global Businesses and strategic priorities for HBUK. Delivering of key entity documentation for the management of capital and development of the regulatory Inter Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP). Actively engaging in the establishment of a sound capital management process for HBUK with dividend policies aligned to the Group. Liaising with ALCM Change and HBEU ALCM to ensure delivery of ALCM reporting requirements and Finance Transformation initiatives for HBUK. Supporting the HBUK CFO in their capacity as decision maker in HBUK Asset Liability Community (ALCO) and Transactional Asset Liability Community (TALCO) and manages these processes to ensure that appropriate governance is applied to ALCO related matters. Supporting the HBUK Head of ALCM in providing timely and appropriate information to the HBUK Audit and Risk Committees and the HBUK Board. Working with Global Businesses and Finance to steer the evolution of the balance and the implications of external pricing by businesses on the firm's return on capital metric. Managing external relationship and communication with Rating Agencies in for HBUK and participate in Investor Relations activities as required. Maintaining relationships with the PRA in relation to HBUK. Effective team-working across the UK and Regional ALCM teams. Compliance with Group ALCM policies including the FIM in HBUK. Monitoring compliance with agreed ALCM policies and ensures the HBUK ALCO fully covers the range of relevant balance sheet issues and risks on capital. Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring. Supporting the establishment of an effective ALCM sub-function for HBUK, working effectively with its shared service providers and building constructive relationships with Regional and Group ALCM sub-functions and regulators.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. ALCM, Cash Management, Liquidity, Capital. Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. ALCM, Cash Management, Liquidity, Capital. Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA). Past working experience in a relevant role. Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. ALCM, Cash Management, Liquidity, Capital is desirable but not essential. Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. ALCM, Cash Management, Liquidity, Capital is desirable but not essential. Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered. A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications. Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results.

The base location for this role is Birmingham.



We are required by the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013 to create a ring-fenced bank in the UK by 1 January 2019. Entirely new from the ground up, HSBC UK's head office is opening in Birmingham. The location of this role will move to our new state of the art offices at 2 Arena Central during 2018.
