Manufacturing Engineer (Fitting)
Would you like to be part of a team, defining and specifying safe manufacturing processes for new and existing products? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Engineer (Fitting) at our site in Barrow.
As a Manufacturing Engineer (Fitting), you will work in conjunction with Cell Managers, Team Leaders, PDM, Continuous Improvement team, Operators and Programmers to deliver the product to the SQDCP ethos and complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines at all times. You will be provided with opportunities to expand your knowledge and experience across the business.
This role will provide you with the chance to work within Weapon Systems (UK). This is part of the global BAE Systems organisation and is engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced defence, electronics, security, information technology and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea. Operating in five continents, BAE Systems has seven home markets with customers and partners in over 100 countries.
Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer (Fitting) will involve:
Creating and maintaining Manufacturing Data Packs (MDP's) which will include, but not limited to, Manufacturing Instructions, Routings, General Instructions, Tooling and Equipment lists etc.
Actively participate in the Change Management Process (MCD) working with the PDM Controller
Interrogating technical documentation and liaising with Operators/Fitters/Fabricators and other relevant stakeholders to determine the best method of manufacture, enabling a fully defined and actionable MDP to be produced
Providing product support and shop floor assistance when required
Ascertaining all tooling required for the required tasks, liaising with Tool
Your skills and qualifications:
Knowledge of PUWER & Risk Assessments
Ability to work on own initiative
Excellent problem solving skills
Extensive Fitting experience within a manufacturing environment
Team player
HNC/HND Engineering qualification or equivalent qualification or experience

You will have experience in fitting within an engineering or manufacturing environment, with a desire to improve products, processes and procedures. You have excellent communication skills and demonstrate strong people management skills.
Salary: GBP32,418
