UWE Bristol is an ambitious university. Together, our people are working hard to advance knowledge, inspire people and transform futures. We are looking for people with the skills and ambition to help us achieve those aims.

We are a well-established university, with over 27,000 students, 250,000 alumni and 3,000 staff. Students come to study with us from all over the UK, as well as from 140 different countries around the world, making this a diverse and interesting place to come and study.

Bristol itself is a hub of social and cultural activity. A place with a strong, creative and fiercely independent mindset. A city with a buzzing music scene, great restaurants and interesting business ventures. It's not surprising Bristol is consistently named as one of the best places to live and work in the UK.

The Human Resources team works to promote a positive working environment where individual contributions are valued, diversity is welcomed and people are treated with respect. We provide a professional HR service on all aspects of employment and we support staff in achieving the University goal of excellence in education, research and development.

Consistently recognised for the quality of our work by The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards and the Universities HR Awards, we have a reputation for providing excellent support across all the University's faculties and professional services departments. With an expansive remit, our team is structured to deliver a wide range of essential core services as well as leading on strategic initiatives that are continually shaping the way we all work together, within the University and beyond.

Strategically we have a central role in helping to drive the University's ambitious 2020 vision and are committed to fostering partnership working between staff, students and external organisations in order to achieve our strategic goals and improve the overall employee experience.

On an operational level, we're the first point of contact for all the University's recruitment needs, we manage all employment contracts, and we offer professional guidance and support on every kind of HR issue. Our team is also responsible for administering the University's payroll service and pension schemes and handling any staff queries in these areas.

In all our work, we're driven by a culture of continuous improvement, always looking to enhance our approach to provide better services and accelerate our progress towards strategic goals. This includes the design and management of major change projects such as the introduction of e-recruitment and the development of Employee Self Service applications. We're also continually evolving and strengthening the University's dedication to equality and diversity, which has led to its inclusion as a Stonewall 100 employer and winner of the Athena Bronze Award.

We're motivated by progress, positive change and the impact much of our work has on the people around us. By improving employee engagement, nurturing talent and continually reviewing our policies and processes, we help staff to fulfil their potential - and the University to thrive. Our team supports individual career paths with coaching, mentoring professional development and innovative programmes introducing new ways of teaching and learning, and we deliver over 3,000 training places every year from our own learning and development centre. Outside the University, we work closely with business leaders to help them develop and implement people plans and HR solutions that align with strategic priorities, build performance and meet long-term objectives.
