EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to develop automation scripts for Jenkins and Maven.

This is an excellent new short term assignment that will be working with one of Sopra Steria's important Defence Sector clients.

The post holder will work through Sopra Steria Recruitment for Sopra Steria, a European leader in digital transformation, providing one of the most comprehensive portfolios of end-to-end service offerings on the market: consulting, systems integration, software development, infrastructure management and business process services.

The DevOps engineer is required to productionise manual build processes for a major Java based web site. This will include the automated build of Windows Servers, delivering a complex web application stack; building and configuring new server platforms and the automated tooling to do so. The DevOps consultant will also troubleshoot platform level problems and support development teams with configuring applications for deployment.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Experience of using Windows based operating system
  • Experience of working with web based Java applications (on Tomcat)
  • Common deployment patterns
  • Continuous integration implementation tools (Jenkins, Maven)
  • Experience of working with multi-box virtualised environments
  • Basic understanding of network configurations including SSL
  • Experience of using source control management tools (SVN)

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Virtualization systems (VMware)
  • Familiarity with OSGi model for deploying bundles into an ESB such as Talend, Fuse or ServiceMix
  • Experience of deploying JasperSoft, PostgreSQL,
  • Experience of using Nexus, ADFS
  • Strong Scripting
  • A proven track record of working with highly-available customer-facing web services
  • Experience working with sensitive data, ensuring systems are security compliant
