Overview of project
Crossrail, one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects, will increase rail capacity across the capital and the South East. More than 10,000 people, including nearly 400 apprentices are working across 40 construction sites, building the most momentous infrastructure project in generations. When it opens, it'll serve 200 million passengers and boost the economy by GBP42 billion.
In 2015, the project's major tunneling works concluded and the focus shifted towards fit-out and implementing railway systems within the central section and upgrades to the surface stations. Early next year, station landlord responsibilities will transfer to Rail for London Infrastructure (RfLI) between Stratford and Shenfield, to coincide with the implementation of the new rolling stock. By 2019, 5 central section stations, the routeway, shaft, portals and surface stations will be the responsibility of RfLI.
Many of the Track assets are unique in design, and combined with the environment provide an exciting and challenging opportunity for experienced Track engineers to use and apply their knowledge and experience to a new situation, whilst exploiting personal opportunities to develop, grow and create an effective and sustainable organisation for the future.
