Our scientists and engineers are working with partners around the globe to develop fusion as a new source of clean energy for tomorrow`s power stations.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team to:
-Provide engineering support and capability to Site Technical Services Group.
-To enable successful delivery of operation, maintenance and enhancement of the CCFE site non-pulsed power supply infrastructure, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.
-To take full responsibility for ensuring plant faults are quickly addressed.
-Ensure that proposed design solutions are technically robust.
The main responsibilities of the role will include:
-Ensure all work undertaken by the Group is in compliance with current legislation and codes of practice and delivered safely and effectively.
-Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in support of CCFE operations. Teams will comprise staff (up to level 5), ASW`s and external contractors where necessary.
-Take full ownership of relevant work packages ensuring all technical criteria is satisfied and that work can be carried out in a safe and cost effective manner.
-Take responsibility for design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance of assigned electrical systems.
-Manage supplier requirements including review and approval of supplier documentation, and ensure costs are controlled within Group budgetary constraints.
-Provide assurance by calculation, analysis and review of existing electrical switchgear and cabling.
-Act as Project Engineer, and occasionally Project Manager, for projects within and beyond the Department.
-Preparation of engineering procedures, method statements and local rules in support of STSG requirements.
-Provide electrical engineering support to other Groups as required.
-Ensure STSG electrical section records are accurate and sufficient.
Knowledge skills and experience
Essential
-Bachelor`s degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
-Must demonstrate knowledge of large distribution networks.
-Must demonstrate a high level of understanding of electrical safety and work control system components.
Desirable
-Experience with protection, control and interlock systems.
Special requirements:
-Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution.
