We are looking to recruit a Monitoring and Compliance Officer who will be responsible for condition monitoring of fee and non-fee Minerals and Waste sites, in addition to more general planning enforcement work investigating and monitoring alleged breaches of planning legislation relating to a variety of sites.

Position: Monitoring and Compliance Officer (Minerals and Waste)
Location: South Downs Centre Midhurst
Salary: GBP28,281 to GBP35,451
Hours: 37 hours per week
Type of post: Permanent

You will need to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, host authorities as well as complainants, applicants, professional agents, solicitors and the wider community as part of providing an efficient and responsive customer focussed service.

The role involves communication in difficult circumstances, often with challenging, distressed or aggressive people, and you will need to remain alert to risk at all times as well as being able to deal with situations in a non-confrontational manner.

Minerals and Waste sites often have long and complex histories, there will be periods of intense monitoring and research and attention to detail is vital. You will need to be competent in managing challenging and balance competing deadlines. You will be required to appear as a witness on the National Park Authority's behalf at appeals and in Court potentially under personal pressure with intense periods of cross-examination. You may also be required to undertake a moderate planning caseload, including Discharge of Condition applications for Minerals and Waste sites.
