Job Title: HR Business Partner

Location: Ipswich

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

Our client is an asset and energy support services group that constructs, improves, maintains and provides services to homes, schools, public and commercial buildings with a focus on the UK public sector and regulated markets.

Job Role

To operate as a Business Partner to a number of Divisions/Departments across the Group you will be involved in working closely with each Divisional/Departmental Director and senior management team to enable delivery of the Business Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic input on human resource matters across the Division by participating fully in the Business Planning process, providing professional advice and support in the areas of resourcing, succession planning and talent management.
  • Contribute to strategic decision making by maintaining an up to date knowledge of HR practice and employment law.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Director and senior team to develop the skills of the Division's line Managers in people management.
  • Ensure that Managers are aware of (and use) Lakehouse Policies and procedures effectively, treating employees fairly, in line with good practice and legislative requirements whilst meeting Business need.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in processes and practices.
  • Deliver a HR service to customers (Divisional managers) which is respected for its professionalism and helps the division to consistently deliver effective and efficient business performance
  • Work with colleagues to develop relevant 'people' performance targets and regularly analyse and review these (e.g. staff turnover/attendance/morale etc).
  • Support the HR Director and Divisional Director by providing a monthly management report on the key matrices mentioned above.
  • Take responsibility for delivering a high quality professional HR service to both Managers and Staff in your customer areas, acting as an ambassador for the HR profession
  • Take a lead in final stage discipline/capability issues including dismissals, appeal and in preparing responses to Employment Tribunals where appropriate.
  • Take a lead in complex grievance or disputes procedures as required.
  • Undertake employment related investigations for HR colleagues in other Divisions and commission HR colleagues to undertake investigations as required within your Division.
  • Contribute or lead (where requested by the HR Director) corporate HR/Cultural change projects.

The Candidate

  • Be politically aware (to enable you to balance the need to support the Division's needs with that of Lakehouse's wider culture/objectives)
  • Good knowledge of employment law & best practice

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate concisely, clearly and persuasively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to present compelling arguments and negotiate satisfactory outcomes in a variety of circumstances
  • Deal with confidential matters sensitively and in accordance with policy
  • Good IT Skills (particularly MS Office, email, Word and preferably Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Set high personal standards
  • Ability to operate well as a team
  • Able to prioritise own work load and meet deadlines

Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a HR Professional working alongside senior management teams (any sector)
  • Demonstrable experience of providing strategic and operational employment related advice
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • CIPD qualified to at least Graduate level or equivalent experience
  • Full Driving License
