We are seeking a QA Tester with extensiveexperience of testing databases with strong ETL / SSIS / SQLknowledge.
The Role:
The last twelve months have been a whirlwind of pitch wins, new hires and expansion for DBG. We have joined forces with Merkle and more recently Dentsu, moved into incredible new London premises and have attracted renowned experts to diversify our offering.
Quality of our service and deliverables is paramount to the success of our business, as is innovation and proving our mantra "data is beautiful", and the role of the QA Test Engineer at Merkle is critical to helping us achieve this goal.
Complementing a growing team of data, tech and digital specialists, we are seeking a QA Test Engineer to work within our cross functional client delivery teams to ensure quality of our work, contribute towards our technical best practice and innovation forums, drive best quality practices across our Client PODs, design test strategies and implement test automation.
Life as a QA Test Engineer at Merkle | DBG:
Your day to day role and prime responsibility will be planning, creating and executing manual and automated software test activities. You will be expected to own and lead all stages of the testing lifecycle from inception to delivery (from initial planning, creating test plans and scripts, through execution to reporting of the results, including UAT, Deployment), taking the initiative to resolve issues, tackle and remove roadblocks and see through resolution of requirements, issues and defects
Additional responsibilities include:
- Work with our Tech Leads and Head of Database Engineering, QA & Governance to develop, improve and implement best practice SQA processes, introduce pragmatic test strategies, structure, quality success KPIs, test standards and documentation; to ensure the products and services provided by the Group comply with both external and internal requirements and standards, including any relevant legal compliance and customer expectations.
- Designing and assisting in building test automation architecture to automate test cases
- Working with business owner(s) and cross functional delivery teams to develop and implement related test plans/cases
- Find & manage resolution of bugs/defects, proactively identify risks to management, design, implement/execute, debug, regression test, validate and verify when fixes implemented.

What we are looking for in you:
- Formal software testing certification, e.g. ISTQB, ISEB
- Proven experience (3+ years) in system-level QA Testing, with strong hands-on manual testing experience involving functional, non-functional, regression, integration, SIT, End to End, load/stress, performance and user acceptance testing, including whitebox and backend testing. (PEN and Usability testing not essential but desirable).
- Strong experience in writing complex SQL/TSQL queries to test databases, perform data manipulation and verification and set up test data.
- Proven adaptive test strategies gained from test experience across Agile, Waterfall, Kanban SDLC processes.
- Strong experience of planning test scenarios, writing and executing test plans and test cases, and creating required test data
- Experience of working within a SME organisation, ideally in a marketing or similar agency environment
- Strong problem solving skills, ability to think ahead, with good eye for detail and routing out / searching those dark corners.
Test Automation experience, knowledge of BDD/TDD and experience of testing Marketing Products such as Adobe Campaign, IBM Unica Campaign, Apteco FastStats is desirable; as is experience of using source code control, CI technology and defect logging tools.
