Senior Manufacturing Engineer/Process Improvement Engineer

Hertford

GBP30,000 - GBP40,000 Dependent on experience

A leading manufacturer in the Hertford area is currently recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer/Process Improvement Engineer to join the team. This is a newly created position within the company and the successful candidate will be leading the process and continuous improvement initiatives on site. You will be responsible for a manufacturing engineer who will assist in the development of new and existing processes to improve efficiency on site.

You will take ownership of all manufacturing processes and the improvement of processes, with responsibility for leading process improvement initiatives, as well as responsibility for the continuous reliability of equipment and machines.

Main responsibilities/skills:
  • Lead projects to make process improvements, changing attitudes towards this where necessary
  • Support manufacturing activities, maintaining cross functional relationships within the company
  • Use problem solving approaches to improve processes.
  • Use analysis tools during problem solving to identify root causes
  • Use Lean Manufacturing initiatives/tools for process improvement/problem solving
  • Determine bottleneck processes throughout company and attend process breakdowns
  • Maintain the availability of machines, create maintenance plans where necessary
  • Check engineering drawings and BOM's to define best manufacturing practices
  • Identify root causes and implement counter measures/improvements
Experience:
  • Experience in process improvements and process improvement initiatives
  • Ideally apprentice trained with a HNC/HND/Degree in mechanical engineering (or similar)
  • Hands on experience with machining/fabrication/assembly (or similar production/manufacturing environments)
  • Experience working with metals and metal manufacturing/assembly techniques would be highly beneficial (candidates from the automotive industry would be highly relevant)
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to use quality inspection measuring equipment
  • Computer literate and ability to use Microsoft office suites
