We have a unique opportunity for a Chef to be part of an exciting new venture in the Somerset countryside but within a mile of the centre of Yeovil.
We are creating a warm, welcoming and contemporary Farmshop and Cafe serving only the best locally sourced produce and are looking for a talented, hardworking individual to join our small team.
The Role
This position would suit a well experienced chef that is highly organised in the kitchen and has a passion for food. The successful applicant will work closely with the team and manage the kitchen to include all usual Chef duties.
All applicants must have a good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices along with a current recognised food hygiene certificate to ensure the business is safe and compliant with HSE regulations. Being able to work alone and under pressure is essential.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing and producing quality home cooked dishes
Oversee all process to achieve excellent hygiene standards
Cleanliness of the kitchen, appliance and apparatus
Developing & Costing menus
Correct Storage of all food and date rotation
Stock control
Control Costs & Reduce wastage
Assisting with in-house development & training of Team Members
Be involved and contribute at team meetings
What we’re looking for :
Someone who loves food as much as we do and will relish the opportunity to be at the forefront of an exciting new venture and in its continuing development.
A passion for food in its preparation, presentation and quality. Previous experience in fresh food dining kitchen is desirable.
Excellent people, organisation, and communications skills, a bright and cheery personality, positive energy and being a real team player are all essentials.
This is a Full time position working over 5 days including weekends & bank holidays but no split shifts. Current opening hours are 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday.
